When we approached our Coach Core Essex and Manchester funders, BT Sport, we thought they might allow the team to visit the studios and perhaps chat to a presenter….. how wrong we were!

On both days, our apprentices were greeted in the green room by the head of BT Sport who explained about the inner workings of the studio and that the team would be taken through a mock day of filming to expose them fully to how a sports broadcast is put together. As the Essex team made their way nervously to the studio, they were shocked to see Clare Balding sat waiting for them! She instantly made them feel at ease and the apprentices were then split into roles behind the camera, on sound, behind the mixing desk and even being the stars of the show interviewed by Clare! Coach Core Manchester had the exact same experience with the amazing Natalie Quirk as their star presenter of the day.

Over the course of their days, they got to change roles so that everyone experienced each role and get a real understanding of how BT Sport film and produce their football magazine show.
Essex cricket apprentice Charlotte said “

I loved today. I cant believe we got to do so many things and really see how the shows we love are put together. I didn’t even think about media as a career choice for me but I’d really like to experience more and I’ll definitely be using the skills I’ve learnt back with my employer too”

And that, as they say, is a wrap!
