Now completing their third Coach Core year, Glasgow Sport are able to celebrate yet another perfect year!  All 20 apprentices that started the programme went on to graduate and this is a testament to the mentoring and quality education the Glasgow Sport team provide.

Building on learning year on year, the Glasgow Sport Coach Core team bring their teams together for 2 education days a week to tutor the education and really instil the Coach Core modules through practical, peer learning.  They are then deployed in clubs and community schemes across the city with nearly 1000 coaching sessions impacted by Coach Core apprentices in this year alone!

“We are so proud of the team and the progress they’ve made as individuals this year” said Glasgow Sport Coach Core lead Hazel Kyle.  “The programme itself is now self-sustainable thanks to us registering the course with the Skills Development Scotland and we are so excited for Year 4  to build on this once again”.

Joining the honours roll were the always inspiring Coach Core WRU apprentices.  Completing what is the second year for the Welsh Rugby Union, they too have worked hard to ensure the long-term sustainability of the programme.

“Its now firmly embedded in the organisation and we are delighted with the reach and impact the apprentices have had across South Wales and we’ve really strengthened the programme and look forward to not only welcoming the third cohort but seeing the continued journey of our first and second-year apprentices” – Carl Scales, WRU Coach Core tutor.

Wrapping up a very busy summer will be the Coach Core London and Essex teams that are currently undertaking their final assessments before going on to further education or employment after the programme.  “It’s a bit scary,” said London football apprentice Jay “but I feel ready with the skills I’ve learnt and experience I’ve gained to really crack on now.  I’m over the moon I can stay coaching with Fulham whilst going onto the next step of my education too.”
