GLASGOW: GRADUATED 2015
Having suffered from long-term illness in the past and a struggle to find employment, Gillian was nominated by the head coach of her football team, Hamilton Academical LFC for a position on Glasgow Life’s Coach Core programme. During her time on Coach Core Gillian gained her Scottish Football Association Level 1.3 Coaching in the Game qualification and worked with her mentor to develop the first ever girls section for Harmony Row Football club, a 100 year old football club in the Govan area of Glasgow.
Now Gillian is employed by Glasgow Life as one of the organisations only female football coaches and supports Glasgow Sport’s football development team. She also continues to volunteer as a head coach at Harmony Row Football club. Gillian has already been offered a place within the second year of a Sport Development degree at University which she intends to start next year as she works towards her goal of becoming a Football Development Officer.
